This artwork presents a systematic analysis of consciousness dimensions across different network architectures. It answers the question: how does awareness manifest in each type of network system, and what patterns emerge when we compare them?
The grid format maps seven key dimensions of consciousness (sensory processing, temporal awareness, social cognition, spatial modeling, self-modeling, recursive thinking, and integrated experience) against our five network types (biological neural, digital neural, social human, mycelial fungal, and quantum entangled).
Each intersection is rated with a filled circle (●) for full capability, half-filled (◐) for partial capability, or empty circle (◯) for minimal/no capability. These ratings create a unique “consciousness profile” for each network type:
- Biological neural networks show full capability across all dimensions - the most comprehensively conscious system we know
- Digital neural networks show partial capabilities in many dimensions but struggle with self-modeling and social cognition
- Social networks excel at social cognition and integration but struggle with recursion
- Mycelial networks have excellent sensory and temporal awareness but minimal self-modeling
- Quantum networks show a fascinating pattern of extremes - either full capability or none at all
The bottom section displays awareness grid patterns - a visual representation of consciousness distribution that reveals surprising structural similarities across vastly different network types. The pattern visualization suggests that consciousness might follow certain universal organizing principles regardless of the substrate it emerges from.
