This opening artwork presents the conceptual framework for our exploration: a 5×5 matrix of network architectures and their perceptual relationships. Each cell represents how one type of network would model, understand, or “perceive” another type of network.

The matrix creates 25 unique perspectives, with the diagonal cells ([1,1], [2,2], etc.) representing self-perception - how each network type understands itself. The remaining cells represent cross-domain perceptions, highlighting the asymmetries in how different systems model one another.

This matrix will guide our exploration through the subsequent artworks, as we delve into specific cells and examine the unique properties, limitations, and insights each perspective reveals about information architecture across scales and domains.
